Baptism

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." - John 3:5

Baptism Baptism

Our Mid-week devotional video for 8-July-2020

Discussion Questions:

1. In what areas of life can we be of two souls/minds? How does double-mindedness undermine the Christian faith? Why does double-mindedness undermine receiving from God?

2. Is there someone you know that is facing a difficult trial? What can you do to encourage and support them during this time? Why is prayer so important in trails?

3. The Lord wants to bring us up to maturity slowly and surely. Write down one trial that you are facing. Then write down one area you think God wants you to grow in the midst of this trial.

Dear BBPC Family,

As we enter into a new week, let us be reminded to show forgiveness to others, just as God has forgiven us through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ on the cross. Have a blessed week ahead.

“What Holds You Back?”
Deut 1
Dn Gregory Loh

1. Have there been times when you feel that the Bible was insufficient in solving life’s challenges? How does Deuteronomy 1 reveal that the bigger and underlying problem is our problem of disobedience? (Deut 1:1-3)

2. Which man-centered tendency are you most prone to? Give an example of this experience in your life. How does believing in Christ help you to overcome this?

To help you answer this question more specifically, choose one-two questions below to reflect on more deeply and share with a small group:

a. [Man-Centered Indifference] Have you ever pinned the responsibility for the deficiencies in your Christian living on someone or something else? How does Jesus help us to be responsible for our own sins? (Deut 1:9-18)

b. [Man-Centered Inability] What have you been delaying obeying God about? How does Jesus help you to obey God with confidence? (Deut 1:19-25)

c. [Man-Centered Irritation] Have you ever been frustrated with God? How does remembering your salvation help with this frustration? (Deut 1:27-32)

d. [Man-Centered Intentions] What “good thing(s)” has drawn you away from worshipping God? Why is obeying Jesus better than this “good thing”? (Deut 1:34-40)

e. [Man-Centered Instinct] What gaps in your understanding of Christianity is stopping you from enjoying full obedience to God? How can you work towards clarifying the gaps in your understanding? (Deut 1:41-43)

3. Why is Jesus Christ the one who was not held back from God’s promise? How am I going to listen and obey Him today? (Deut 1:29-31, 33; Deut 18:15, Matt 4:1-11)

This week’s Sunday School online lesson, Listen and Do What is Right, is now available on the BBPC website (https://www.bbpc.sg/sunday-school-online/). We encourage parents to watch the lesson video with their kids and use the materials available to go deeper into the lesson.

We are praying this message helps your family grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are many reasons why people hesitate to join a Cell Group (CG). Perhaps you have never belonged to a CG before. Maybe you used to be part of a CG but have stopped attending for a while. You might even currently be part of a CG now, though you miss CG meetings now and then…
